Raising Kids:
Parenting Skills for the 21st Century
Why Have Kids?
At the most basic level, this is a question we all must ask ourselves at some point in our lives. There is no single question whose answer affects both our life on earth and our posterity so profoundly.
There are many reasons why couples have children. Some sincere, some not so sincere. But I would submit that unless you can honestly answer the question, "Why have Kids?" with the following responses, you should seriously reconsider having children.
-
To love them unconditionally for the rest of your life.
-
To sacrifice for them, putting their best interests above your self interests, worldly desires, and goals.
-
To devote yourself to raising them well so that they will grow into healthy, well adjusted members of society.
-
To teach them to laugh, to love, and to make the world a better place.
For those who are unprepared to make the committments outlined above, they and society would be better off if they did not enter into parenthood.
For those who look forward to a life of committment to their children, there is no greater adventure, no more fulfilling journey than that of parenthood.
Many a young mother or father has marveled at the wonder of a little person placed into their arms just minutes after being born, and suddenly realized that their life will never be the same!
Kids are endearing, challenging, funny, loving, frustrating, rewarding, confusing, messy and amazing all at the same time! Keep reading for suggestions on how to get the most out of your ride through life...together with your children.
